The short answer: yes. Samsung The Frame displays stored art and personal photos in Art Mode without any internet connection. The artwork lives in the TV's own memory, so rotation, mattes, and the motion sensor all keep working when your internet is down. You only need internet for the Samsung Art Store and streaming, and you only need your local home WiFi (not internet) to upload your own photos with a local-transfer app.

What works completely offline

Art Mode itself is self-contained. Everything already stored on the TV keeps working with no network at all:

Displaying uploaded photos and downloaded art in Art Mode
The TV's own slideshow rotation between stored items
Matte borders and brightness/color adjustments
The motion and light sensors that wake or dim the screen

The Frame stores your uploads in internal memory, so a router reboot, an internet outage, or a vacation home with no broadband does not affect the art on the wall.

What needs your home WiFi, but not internet

Getting new photos onto the TV is a transfer between two devices, and that can happen entirely inside your home network. Frame Photos connects to the TV directly over your local WiFi: your phone, tablet, or Mac and the TV need to be on the same network, but the photos never cross the internet. They go straight from your device to the TV. That means uploads keep working even when your internet connection is down, as long as your router is on.

What genuinely needs internet
